Welcome to the Montclair Community Pre-K (MCPK). We hope our website conveys the warmth and enthusiasm of our dynamic community of children, their families, our teachers and staff and the learning environment we are proud to offer. Whether you are evaluating pre-schools or are a current family, we think you will find useful information here about our program. We encourage you to look around and to come inside the building for a visit anytime!
At the Montclair Community Pre-K, we want the best for your child, just as you do. We know that parents and teachers, as partners, working together, can do wonderful things for children. OUR MISSION
The Montclair Community Pre-K is a private, non-profit program with a public mission. We opened our doors in 1998 with the following mission statement:
To offer all four year olds in Montclair a high quality, affordable education that prepares them for kindergarten and beyond, regardless of the ability of the family to pay tuition.
The Montclair Community Pre-K is a nationally recognized early childhood education program. We are dedicated to educational excellence and are a model school in the local community, as well as in New Jersey and across the country.
To ensure we fulfill our mission, we offer tuition assistance on a sliding-scale based on household income. We are proud to say that no Montclair resident has ever been denied admission because of lack of funds.

Enrollment Schedule For the 2012-2013 School Year
- 4-year-olds; January 24th – 28th, 9-11 a.m.
- 3-year-olds January 31st - February 1st, 9-11 a.m.
Rolling admissions continues throughout the school year
3-year olds must turn 3 on or before October 1

Our Program
VALUES
The MCPK offers the highest quality in early childhood education and is nationally recognized for this quality education as well as for its support of families in the community.
Enrolling your child at MCPK is a great value; the return on your investment in this quality program pays for itself in future success of your child!
Here are some unique aspects to the program that will stimulate, nurture and educate your child as well as support you, the parent/caregiver in your role:
- A faculty of certified pre-school teachers with an average of 9-10 years of classroom teaching experience
- Faculty retention - a consistent teaching faculty for the past five years; administration for the past 11-14 years
- Two master teachers with an average of 30 years’ experience who supervise the faculty and curriculum
- A curriculum that emphasizes each child and how he/she learns best. Teachers utilize that information to develop lesson plans and activities that meet children's individual learning styles
- A full-time registered nurse who is a recognized expert in pediatric illness and allergy. The nurse monitors children's illnesses, injuries and chronic medical conditions.
- A flexible daily schedule that meets the needs of the family
- The only school that truly represents the town of Montclair - families from all four wards of Montclair and mirrors the classrooms the children will enter in Kindergarten
- A working relationship with the Montclair school district- we offer a variety of inclusive classroom opportunities for preschool children with special needs,
- A family atmosphere - a warm, welcoming open-door feeling
- A quality reputation with families in Montclair; many choose the MCPK for all of their children to attend, we have a strong return rate
